Created in 1966 by Claude Caill\u00e9, the park is still owned by his family, a family commitment that is reflected in the quality of the welcome and the care given to the animals. The park covers 18 hectares. With its 1,600 mammals, birds and reptiles<\/strong> belonging to over 100 different species<\/strong>, it’s one of Europe’s most renowned zoological parks<\/strong>, with the Qualit\u00e9 Tourisme\u2122 label. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year, the zoo registers several hundred births and plays a major role in saving endangered species<\/strong> by participating in over 60 European Breeding Programs (EBP). Its Palmyre Conservation endowment fund also finances protection programs worldwide: orangutans and elephants in Borneo, lemurs in Madagascar, gorillas and chimpanzees in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cape penguins in South Africa, giant otters in French Guiana… <\/p>\n\n\n\n
